This colorful flat world map panel fabric is quite special. I’ve seen teachers use prints like this in their classrooms, but that was so far from what I had in mind—and I was a teacher when I purchased it!

For me, it was going to be a jumpsuit...a tunic of sorts...something roomy and comfortable. I saw clothing from the very beginning.

I purchased this fabric from Winmil Fabrics in Boston, Massachusetts, probably sometime around 2014 or 2015, when my oldest son was attending university there. Winmil was one of those fabric stores where you could find something a little different, and this world map print certainly qualified.

There’s quite a bit of history connected to where this piece came from. Winmil Fabrics opened in Boston in 1969 and remained in business for 47 years before permanently closing in 2016.

This colorful world map fabric is lightweight with a soft hand and moderate drape. It is semi-opaque with no stretch, and at 59 inches wide, there is plenty of room here for the map design to make an impact.
